I have been the full-time pastor at Leyland Baptist since September 2022, having done three years training at the church and as part of Northern Baptist College. I’m married to Degs (Derek) and between us we have 3 adult children and 1 grandchild. We’ve also both got season tickets for Burnley Football Club.

I never thought I would ever come into ministry, but God had other ideas, and here I am ….

My hope for Leyland Baptist is that we will be a church which is welcoming to all and a real family. That we will learn more about God together, worship together and serve our community together. ‘Church’ is the people not the building, and we are all loved by God no matter how we do things, what our quirks are or how ‘normal’ we are (or aren’t!)

Carol Stunell

My name is Carol. I have been married to Phil for 45 years we have 4 grown up children and 3 grandchildren. I made a commitment to Jesus at age 18. my background is Nursing and Midwifery, followed by a few years as a Primary school teacher.  Phil and I served as support missionaries for 2 years in Bangladesh from 1978-1979.

I have been a member of Leyland Baptist Church for over 20 years. My passion is to see people changed by the Love and Grace of God; Pastoral care and blessing others by cooking. I have been gifted by the Holy Spirit with prophetic prayer. Building up relationships through coffee and chat, listening and prayer is important to me.

For relaxation I enjoy spending time with family, walking, reading and listening to classical music.
